Testing out my new product for live video encoding below. It's playing Flash Media Server stream called "live". At the time of this writing, I have my DirectTV settop box connected to my desktop Osprey 500 video card via S cable, it's encoded at the computer to Flash and streamed up to FMS then back out to here:

Unemployment insurance

I've got the cure to unemployment. A cure that will not land people in minimum wage jobs but will drop a tasty high paying gig in your lap with a great salary, benefits, stock options, and working with hip Web 2.0 and Media & Entertainment companies. The bonus, you can roll into work at 10 or whenever wearing shorts and your favorite concert jersey - as long as you get your job done, who cares.

So, how does one get this gig? Get your hands on a copy of Flash, Flash Media Server and Flex (free dev editions or trials exist) and brush up on your ActionScript - AS3 perferrably. There is a serious shortage of developers who can program Flash, Flash Media Server and Flex. If you're a rock star with good ActionScript skills, you know FMS inside and out, and you're looking for a full-time gig, drop me a line ... and let me know where you want to live: New York City, LA, San Francisco, London, Amsterdam, ...

Social Media pt. 2 (or, only in San Francisco)

Speaking of Social Media, in perhaps a "Only in San Francisco" type situation, I've just realized that my neighbor across the street blogs on social media as well. I don't mean neighbor as in "in the same general area" - that would be someone like Craig from Craigslist - but I mean neighbor as in right smack dab across the street. Guess that's SF for you.

Social Media

It seems that we may be able to officially add "Social Media" (a term we've been using around the office here to describe the great Web 2.0 apps our Flash & Flash Media Server customers have been building) to our lexicon! Paidcontent.org's use of the term in their new conference "The Economics of Social Media" may be a leading indicator for the stickiness of the term.

Speaking of that, here's a list of some of our favorite Social Media apps:

stickam.com
click.tv
splice

All Flash/Flash Media Server-based of course ;-)
